Even Easier, Not-Quite "Overnight" Oats

Overnight oats are one of my favorite breakfasts. But I don't really love them cold and I prefer them with just a slight bit of firmness. I've taken to making not-quite overnight oats, and for some reason it seems easier than overnight oats! Not only that, but it allows for more spontaneity, which allows me to indulge the all-important Intuitive Eating principle of discovering the satisfaction factor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of rolled, old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 - 1 cup of your milk of choice* (depending on how liquidy you like your oats)
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Optional Toppings:

  • Pomegranate seeds and/or blueberries
  • Chopped almonds or walnuts
  • Cacao nibs
  • Drizzle of honey

Instructions

Upon waking, combine the milk, oats, and pinch of cinnamon. Stir thoroughly. Let it sit on the counter or in the fridge while you shower or go about your morning routine, approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

Warm it up in the microwave for about a minute. Top with fruit, nuts, cacao nibs, and honey if desired.

Note: *I like the Califia Farms Toasted Coconut Almond Milk, and generally find I don't need honey as it's plenty sweet.
